Ilha Terceira Golf Club was not designed by any famous architect. It was built by the Americans of Lajes Air Force Base in 1954. It is located 13 kilometres away from Angra do Heroísmo, and just 10 kilometres from the airport.
The layout is a par 72 (37+35) with a total length of 6,332 yards. Its most difficult hole is the 370-yard par-4 5th. The fairways are mostly separated by cryptomerias and the scenery is fascinating. Ilha Terceira Golf Club is one of the most popular clubs in Portugal and its pro-shop is very much in demand since it has abundant golf equipment at excellent prices.
Terceira, which has about 1,000 members and over 500 players, is one of the most important Portuguese golf clubes.
